Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ

For Families

1) How are your candidates screened?

Our candidates must complete a rigorous application and provide us with copy of Academic Documents and National ID.  Our candidates are interviewed in person by our highly trained consultants in which skill-testing and situational questions are posed, and past work experience and individual character is explored in detail. An intensive behavioural interview is conducted.  Our interviews focus on evaluating common sense, integrity and a true passion to work in this field. References are personally checked by our consultants, who verifies employment history and job responsibilities. Our consultants probe not only into the experience but also the character of the nanny. These interviews and reference checks are a crucial part of ensuring the best possible match for you and your family.

2) How long does the hiring process take?

Hiring a local candidate can be accomplished within a matter of days depending on your availability for the discovery and interviews, sense of urgency and current market availability. While we aim to find someone as quickly as possible, it is important for us to find our employers and candidates the right fit and will not jeopardize the integrity of our screening process.

3) What responsibilities will I have as an employer?

As an employer you will be required to remit all payroll taxes in addition to the net salary.  You are also required to keep payroll records and provide a pay stub. You must abide by all provincial employment labour laws.

4) Can communication be a barrier?

Goog communication skills is part of our screening process.  Through our testing, personal interview and evaluation of their written application form, we are able to assess their English comprehension and writing competencies.  Communication is not limited to language. Cultural differences must be considered. Tolerance and understanding of these differences are keys to the successful hire.  It may take a few weeks for your new hire to adjust to your way of speaking understanding the nuances, different accents and slang.  Be patient!  Also, she may just be shy, so give her a chance to settle in.
